Radion XR30w G2 Upgrade
Starting in Q1 2013, customers that own a first generation (G1) Radion will be able to upgrade their lights to the second generation (G2) build which consists of two (2) G2 LED and two (2) TIR lenses. This upgrade option will cost $150. For those customers that already have TIR lenses installed on their G1 Radions, the upgrade will be available at a reduced cost of $120 per unit. All G2 LED clusters require the use of the TIR lenses.
We have established two different options for the G2 upgrades. Customers may choose to either upgrade their G1 Radion through our Service Exchange Program (SEP) or through our Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) program. The SEP is an option for those customers that require zero downtime for the lighting needs of your aquarium. The SEP enables you to have a G2 replacement light shipped to you and allows you to keep your G1 Radion until you receive the G2 replacement Radion and install it. Upon receipt of G2 Radion, you will ship back the G1 Radion in the same packaging with prepaid shipping by EcoTech. If you choose to utilize the SEP, we will place a hold on your credit card for the retail price of the G2 Radion. We will release this hold once the G1 Radion is received. Please contact our customer support representatives for more details about which program may be right for you.
If you pursue the RMA option, you will ship your G1 Radion back to us and we will outfit it with the G2 parts, then ship it back to you. This will result in some downtime but means that you will receive back your exact Radion versus an exchange.
There will not be an upgrade kit for consumer installation.
Program and pricing subject to change without notice.
Radion XR30w G1 Performance and Specs
Powering reef tanks for the last year, the Radion XR30w G1 is renowned for having no shortage of PAR and superior color mixing amongst any multi-color LED light.
Radion Xr30w G1 with TIR lens Performance and Specs
TIR stands for Total Internal Reflection. By redirecting more of each LED cluster’s output in a usable direction (in your tank), TIR lenses are able to boost G1 Radion peak PAR levels by up to 45% and total (average) PAR levels by up to 23% beneath the fixture without sacrificing spread or consuming additional power.

Radion XR30w G2 Performance and Specs
The Radion XR30w G2 takes advantage of the superior optics provided by the TIR lens kit and combines that with the latest technology in Cree LED’s: the XT-E. More efficient than ever before, hitting higher peak and average PAR ratings, the Radion XR30w G2 is unparalleled amongst LED lights. The spectral output of the second generation Radion is nearly identical to the first generation, meaning that the impressive depth of color portrayed within your aquarium has not changed with the introduction of the XR30w G2.
On the left is a Radion XR30w G1 with stock optics and on the right is a Radion XR30w G2. The difference is an amazing 57% higher peak PAR and 47% higher average PAR.
