EcoTech Marine Wins High-Profile Award for Product Innovation
EcoTech Marine, the company that revolutionized coral aquarium propeller pumps with the VorTech MP40w, received the prestigious Innovation Award from the Ben Franklin Technology Partners during the 14th annual award ceremony held on Tuesday, May 20th at Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA.
One of only eight awards bestowed for 2008, EcoTech won the coveted Product Innovation award presented annually to the company that best demonstrates the commercialization of a unique, innovative product that creatively and effectively meets a market need.
“We are stoked to be recognized for this award,” says Tim Marks, EcoTech director of production. “It’s a testament to EcoTech’s relentless pursuit of providing reef aquarium enthusiasts the most technically superior and best performing products on the market. Consumers have embraced our innovative design and sales have exceeded even our high expectations. The Innovation Award caps off an incredible year for us.”
Past Innovation Award winners including OraSure Technologies, Computer Aid International, B. Braun and Infinera – all well established leaders in their respective industries. Ben Franklin Technology Partners, widely viewed as the gold standard for technology-based economic development organizations, works with hundreds of technology-oriented companies and singles out the cream of the crop at this annual award ceremony that attracts more than 700 entrepreneurs, manufacturers, venture capitalists, political leaders, bankers and more.
Marks, along with company co-founders Patrick Clasen and Justin Lawyer, accepted the award remotely from Germany where they are preparing for the upcoming InterZoo trade show as part of their strategy to capitalize on rapidly growing interest and sales in the European and Asian markets.
At InterZoo, EcoTech plans to introduce several new product enhancements and preview the VorTech MP20 – a propeller pump ideally suited for tanks under 70 gallons. The MP20, built on the same novel technology that earned them the Innovation Award, is slated for release later this summer.
